John Galliano Vintage Clothes
John Galliano a fascinating figure in the world of Couture fashion, born in Gibraltar 1960 with a Gibraltarian father Juan and a Spanish mother Anita. At the age of 6 his family moved to London where he began a career that was to put his name firmly on the map as a top British fashion designer. After studying at Saint Martins College of Art and Design - London. Galliano had struggles to fit in with a strict Roman Catholic upbringing and his Mothers insistent on old fashion dress codes he had always stood out as somewhat eccentric.
He graduated in 1984 with a first class honours degree in fashion design. Inspired by the French Revolution he created his first collection entitled Les Incroyables, this was bought and subsequently sold in "Brown" - London boutique. John Galliano began his own label setting up a studio in London, with a combination of poor business sense and a flamboyant young life style in London's most exclusive night spots, Galliano soon found himself heading for bankruptcy in 1990
His label folded but his talent was undeniable he chose a move to Paris to reignite his fortunes. In 1991 ,he collaborated with Kylie Minogue, designing the costumes for her Let's Get to It Tour, which put him back in the fashion spotlight. Galliano was introduced to Portuguese fashion guru Sao Schlumberger and financial backers John Bult and Mark Rice. Paris gave the rubber stamp to his high society partnership and having the credibility to show again in Paris Galliano developed his new collection. This was to create Gallianos "Fashion Moment" with the worlds top models portraying his collection names like, Kate Moss, Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, all of whom were rumoured to have waived their usual couture appearance fees.

Galliano has a brief spell at Givenchy from 1995 - 1996, he was soon head hunter by Dior and in 1997 his first couture show for Dior coincided with the label's 50th anniversary, his creations for Dior are amongst some of the best designs that Dior have produced. John in his usual passion for theatrical design stamped his mark on Dior with flamboyant catwalk shows where he undoubtedly was the centre of attention not just as a designer but a participant in the drama.
On 25 February 2011, Dior announced that it had suspended Galliano following his arrest over an alleged anti-Semitic drunken comments in a Paris bar, it seemed Johns lifestyle had again out shone his work costing him the most exclusive position in high class Couture fashion. Video evidence of a similar attack emerged in the same bar the previous December. This portrayed a drunk Galliano hurling anti-Semitic abuse at a group of Young Italian women and declared "I love Hitler.. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers would all be fucking gassed." This incident happened just before Paris Fashion Week. Galliano was sacked the backlash saw numerous celebrities and influential people ditch the designer with just one Galliano design to grace the red carpet at the Oscars in 2011.
